Mercedes, Land Rover, Ferrari - Collection of Wooden Mini Cars Created by Self-taught Craftsman

Vasil Aspanidze is a self-taught wood craftsman who creates mini models of cars from simple pieces of wood.

As he tells "business partner", he started this activity in 2019, when he decided to make an original gift for a special person.

"At that time, I came up with an idea to make a car out of wood, that's when I made the first retro car, since then I have already created 15 models, such as Mercedes, Ferrari, Hummer, Bugatti, Land Rover, Wrangler, Ford, Rolls-Royce, Quadro, Belaz, etc. Also, I have already prepared sketches of 25 different cars, which my customers will see soon.

I make the models in my village, Tsalka district, where I have a small workshop. All cars are handmade, I cut and process every detail by hand. The products are made only from local walnut or beech wood and do not contain iron details or harmful substances," says Vasil Aspanidze.

According to him, working with wood is quite difficult because it requires special skills and precision in the cutting process. Therefore, it takes about 3-4 days to make one model. At this stage, the products are only sold online, and the prices depend on the complexity and size of the car, the prices of the models range from 100 to 250 GEL.

"As for the demand, the interest is very high, the sales are growing, but we are not yet working on a large number, about 10-15 models are sold per month. We are negotiating with a foreign company that wants to export my products, in which case I will definitely have to expand the enterprise and install new machines. 

In the future, I plan to participate in some competition for funding and I hope to get funding, because without funds it will be very difficult for me to implement all the plans that will allow us to create healthy and creative toys for our next generation," says wood craftsman Vasil Aspanidze.
