Elven Technologies Starts Wrapping Electric Car Batteries with Fireproof Material
Georgian startup Elven Technologies is starting to wrap electric car batteries with fire-resistant material. The co-founder of Elven Technologies, Vamekh Sarkeulidze, announced this in the "Business Morning" program.
According to him, the company is working on a new project and creates fire-resistant material for car batteries, which will protect the car in case of sudden ignition of the battery.
According to Vamekh Sarkeulidze, there is no technology to stop the burning of metal batteries in the world, and many international companies, including Tesla, are facing a similar problem, so the Georgian startup is also considering cooperation with Tesla.
"Lithium batteries have a very high combustion temperature, the bigger the battery, the higher the chance of it catching fire. Since the Tesla battery is quite large, it burns for 6 hours and destroys everything around it, so we thought of wrapping these batteries with our material and If it happens to catch fire, neither the fire nor the temperature will escape and the car will not be damaged.
We are currently in the process of testing, as there are some questions as to how much we have similar technologies. However, we are negotiating with several companies, including Tesla, on this issue. Everyone agrees that this is a really important problem and there are no ways to regulate it," said Vamekh Sarkeulidze.
Before the creation of the mentioned material, the company created a fire-resistant uniform for the firefighter, which was also a novelty for the world market. The firefighter's uniform is still in the process of testing at this stage, and the processes should be completed by 2023.
