A Georgian-language Talking Wristwatch for Visually Impaired People is Now Available – AccessAT
A Georgian-language talking wristwatch for visually impaired people is now available, according to David Bibileishvili, founder of the startup accessAT, who spoke to Business Partner.
According to him, the watch can currently be purchased online via accessAT’s social media platforms.
“Interest in the product has already emerged, and this process is developing dynamically. The price of the watch is 150 GEL, which I believe is relatively affordable when compared to similar watches available on the market. The watch has several functions: by pressing a button, it announces the time and date, and it also includes an alarm function.
The second component is the ability to tell the time by touch. The watch has a lid that opens, allowing the user to determine the time through tactile perception. There are moments when announcing the time out loud can be uncomfortable, so having an alternative function that allows users to tell the time by touch is a very good solution.
We believe this gives visually impaired people greater independence. It would be very important to engage large businesses. I think it would be great if, within the framework of corporate social responsibility, companies donated these watches to visually impaired individuals, and we would be very happy to cooperate on this matter,” says David Bibileishvili.
He also noted that the company is currently focused on the wristwatch, but in parallel has already started working on a new device that will include various functions, including the ability to read books and other additional features.
For reference, the startup is a winner of GITA’s grant program “Innovation Grants for Regions up to 25,000 GEL.”
