Number of Hotel Suites Grows by 8% to 33 200 Ones

According to Geostat, the national statistics service of Georgia, a total of 1639 hotels and hotel-style facilities were recorded in Georgia in 2018. Number of hotel suites exceeded 33 200 ones, up 8.2% year on year.

Total space of Georgia-based hotels and hotel-style facilities in 2018 made up 1 927 900 square meters, up 7.7% compared to 2017, including leased spaces made up 70 500 square meters.

Total number of places at hotels and other accommodation facilities in 2018 made up 72 600, up 8.6% compared to 2017.

In 2018 hotels and hotel-type facilities served 3 666 100 guests, up 8.4% year on year, including 71.3% were foreign tourists, of which 19.7% were Russian, up 29.4% year on year.

According to Geostat, the sector employs 19 300 persons on average.
