AYFB President: Energy Exchange Management Stays Unready to Launch Platform on January 1

“Even Deputy Economy Minister Davit Tvalabeishvili has proved that on January 1, 2022, the Energy Exchange inauguration is questionable.

Therefore, the Energy Exchange management must demonstrate more responsibility for this issue and postpone the platform inauguration for at least July 1, 2022”, Giorgi Kapanadze, president of the Association of Young Financiers and Businessmen (AYFB) told Business Partner.

It is inadmissible to postpone the Energy Exchange inaugurations several times because similar decisions give very negative signals to the whole energy sector, investors, and our partners, Giorgi Kapanadze said. “The Energy Exchange management should demonstrate more responsibility and name the timeframes for efficient implementation of this reform. We have seen that the 1-year period turned out insufficient. Now, they talk about a six-month postponement and I believe this is a very short period and this deadline will be rescheduled again.

These facts make a negative effect on the private sector because they are getting ready for the mentioned reform, spend huge financial resources and in the end, they face the suspended reform for an indefinite period of time. It is of vital importance that the responsible bodies expose the problems that hinder the Energy Exchange timely inauguration and determine the reasonable deadlines for efficient and valuable enforcement of this platform”, Giorgi Kapanadze told Business Partner.
