Natia Turnava Meets with Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland

Natia Turnava, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, held a working meeting with Ásgeir Jónsson, Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland.

The meeting focused on the evolving role of central banks and the implementation of effective monetary policy. The two leaders exchanged views on macroeconomic trends in Georgia and key aspects of financial stability. Particular emphasis was placed on the National Bank of Georgia’s current monetary and supervisory practices, which are fully aligned with European Union standards.

Discussions also addressed the challenges and transformations facing global financial systems in a rapidly changing environment. The parties explored the implications of the evolving global landscape for monetary policy.

The two central bank leaders reviewed prospects for future bilateral cooperation and discussed the potential implementation of joint projects.

As highlighted during the meeting, the National Bank of Georgia is committed to continuously improving its processes and diversifying its operations through active partnerships with central banks around the world.

Ásgeir Jónsson is visiting Georgia to attend the international conference marking the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the lari. As part of the event, he will participate in a high-level panel discussion titled "The Global Financial System in a Changing Landscape: Effects on Monetary Policy."
