Natia Turnava Highlights Georgia’s Financial Sector Growth in Meeting with EBRD Vice President Matteo Patrone
As part of the 34th Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank of Georgia, and Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili met with Matteo Patrone, EBRD Vice President for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.
The meeting emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between Georgia’s financial sector and the EBRD, which has played a significant role in supporting the country’s economic development.
President Turnava presented the positive trends within Georgia’s banking sector, noting that it remains one of the fastest-growing and most transparent in the region. “In terms of financing the financial sector, the EBRD is one of the leading organizations in Georgia. It has already provided $566 million to our financial system,” she said.
“Our banks are attractive to both investors and international financial institutions. In addition to being among the most profitable sectors, they are also highly transparent. That’s why cooperation between the EBRD and Georgia is fully justified, and we expect it to continue at the same pace,” Turnava added.
The meeting was also attended by:
-
Elisabetta Falcetti, Managing Director for Turkey and the Caucasus
-
Alkis Vrienios Drakinos, Regional Director for the Caucasus
-
