IMF’s Jeroen Clicq Confirms June Mission to Georgia Under Article IV Framework

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will conduct a mission visit to Georgia in June as part of its Article IV consultations, according to Jeroen Clicq, Executive Director of the IMF.

“We look forward to a mission to Georgia in June under the IMF’s Article IV program,” Clicq said following a meeting with Georgian authorities during the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Washington. “It was a pleasure to meet with Georgian officials. We discussed the country’s economic situation and exchanged views on global developments and how these dynamics affect our group of countries.”

The discussions are part of the IMF’s regular surveillance under Article IV of its Articles of Agreement, which involves a comprehensive assessment of a member country's economic health and policy framework.

As part of the Spring Meetings, Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank of Georgia, and Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili held talks with Clicq and Alternate Managing Director Marnix van Ree. The Georgian delegation also included NBG Vice Presidents Ekaterine Mikabadze and Ekaterine Galdava, as well as Deputy Ministers from the Ministries of Finance and Economy.

The upcoming IMF mission is expected to evaluate Georgia’s macroeconomic conditions, monetary policy, financial sector resilience, and reform progress.
