“We welcome the steps taken by the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) to fill the vacant positions on its Board and appoint a new President,” said Alejandro Hajdenberg, Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission to Georgia, during a briefing held today at the NBG.
The joint briefing featured NBG President Natia Turnava, Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili, and IMF Mission Head Alejandro Hajdenberg, and was held to mark the conclusion of the IMF mission's visit to Georgia.
According to Hajdenberg, the NBG should now prioritize amending the Organic Law on the National Bank of Georgia. In this context, the IMF mission has provided specific recommendations.
From May 21 to June 4, 2025, the IMF mission, led by Alejandro Hajdenberg, conducted Article IV consultations with Georgia.
