Ekaterine Mikabadze Represents Georgia at IOSCO’s 50th Annual Meeting in Doha

Ekaterine Mikabadze, First Vice President of the National Bank of Georgia, participated in the 50th Annual Meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), held in Doha, Qatar.

Mikabadze took part in high-level discussions with members of the European Regional Committee (ERC) and the Emerging and Developing Markets Committee (GEMC). She also contributed to sessions held under the Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MMoU) Monitoring Group, the Diversity Support Network, and the Sustainability Reporting Standards Implementation Network, all of which include participation from the National Bank of Georgia.

Among key topics was the presentation of IOSCO’s Online Safety Guide for Retail Investors, along with discussions on emerging market risks and global capital market trends. These included developments in public and private capital markets, fintech innovation, and investor education initiatives.

“The sessions provide a vital platform for jurisdictions to share experiences, identify best practices, and explore collaborative opportunities,” Mikabadze said.

Also attending was David Abesadze, Head of the Securities Market Supervision Department at the National Bank of Georgia.

Georgia became a full member of IOSCO in 2021. Today, IOSCO comprises 133 supervisory authorities worldwide. Its key objectives include investor protection, market transparency, and the reduction of systemic financial risk. The National Bank actively contributes to IOSCO’s efforts through its involvement in both the ERC and GEMC committees and as a signatory to the IOSCO Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding on Information Exchange.
