Ekaterine Mikabadze Participates in IMF Regional Capacity Development Workshop

Ekaterine Mikabadze, First Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, took part in a workshop for central banks organized by the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center (CCAMTAC).

The event was held in Vienna and co-hosted by the IMF and the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI). The workshop focused on key issues related to monetary policy, including possible adjustments to policy frameworks in response to the inflationary pressures of recent years.

Participants highlighted the increasing importance of monetary policy communication and discussed the economic implications of heightened uncertainty, the IMF’s Integrated Policy Framework, and other current topics in monetary policy. Joining Mikabadze were Tamta Sopromadze, Head of the Macroeconomics and Statistics Department at the NBG, and Mariam Chanturia, Acting Head of the Monetary Policy Division.

The workshop was highly interactive, providing an opportunity for NBG representatives to share their experiences and perspectives with counterparts from across the region. The event brought together 21 central bank representatives from nine countries. Presentations were delivered by experts from the IMF, JVI, participating countries, and invited institutions, including the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the European Central Bank (ECB), the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS), and Sveriges Riksbank.
