Ekaterine Mikabadze Appointed First Vice-President of the National Bank of Georgia, Nino Jeladze Named Vice-President

The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Council has appointed Ekaterine Mikabadze as the First Vice-President of the bank. Mikabadze previously served as Vice-President and will now assume the role of second-in-command at the institution.

Additionally, Nino Jeladze, who was recently elected as a member of the NBG Council, will transition to the executive branch and take on the position of Vice-President.

These appointments follow last week’s decision by Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili to appoint Natia Turnava as President of the National Bank of Georgia. Turnava’s candidacy was nominated by the NBG Council, which saw the approval of four new members, including Nino Jeladze, by the Parliament of Georgia on February 6.

Turnava has been serving as First Vice-President and Acting President of the NBG since June 2023 and has been a member of the NBG Board since June 2022.

For reference, the Board of the National Bank of Georgia consists of nine members, who oversee the country’s monetary policy, financial stability, and banking regulations.
