The Georgian Museum of Fine Arts to Present the Knights in the Panther's Skin's Graphic Novel

The Georgian Museum of Fine Arts presents The Knight in the Panther’s Skin, a milestone joint project by Davit Machavariani and Sulakauri Publishing. On July 10, the museum’s temporary exhibition hall will host the artist’s solo show and a presentation of the graphic novel created by Davit Machavariani in the course of three years. It is a great opportunity to buy a copy of the limited inaugural edition.

Besides the graphic novel’s 222-page sketches, the exposition displays all of Davit Machavariani’s works created in the past ten years on the themes of The Knight in the Panther’s Skin, including illustrations for classical editions.

The Knight in the Panther’s Skin graphic novel is poised to breathe a new life into the masterpiece of the world’s literary renaissance and to reenact the 12th-century poem by Rustaveli in the modern 21st-century setting. The artist has created unique, brand new and special images for each of the poem’s episodes and characters. The text for the graphic novel was adapted Saba Award Winner Salome Benidze.

Davit Machavariani was born on December 21, 1976, in Tbilisi. Having attended various art studios since childhood, he, in 1993, enrolled on a ceramics course at the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts. Later, he transferred to the animation course.

The exhibition starts at 7 PM and is held on Rustaveli Avenue, 7.

The exhibition closes on July 17.
