Working Meeting Held with Cattle Farmers on the Development of Livestock Farms
Deputy Ministers of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Lasha Avaliani and Lasha Dolidze, held a working meeting with cattle farmers, meat importers, and distributors to discuss the development of cattle farming operations.
During the meeting, participants discussed key challenges in the sector, the situation in domestic and export markets, prospects for the development of state programs, the promotion of artificial insemination, access to pastures, and the improvement of breed diversity. Special attention was given to the shortage of beef and live young cattle, as well as challenges related to the supply of live livestock.
According to Lasha Avaliani, support for the livestock sector will continue within the framework of state programs. Plans include modernizing existing programs and better aligning them with the interests of farmers.
“Based on the information received from sector representatives, the Ministry will begin working on steps that will strengthen the sector. We will regularly listen to opinions and positions. This will ensure that future decisions are agreed upon in advance and tailored as closely as possible to the interests of the sector,” Lasha Avaliani stated.
Farmers emphasized the need to support the development of small-scale livestock farms and noted that state support in this direction is critically important.
The meeting at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture was also attended by the Head of the National Food Agency, Giorgi Iakobashvili, and representatives of relevant departments.
