Uzbekistan Started Transporting Copper through Georgia

Uzbekistan sent a train loaded with copper for the first time on a new route that bypasses Russia. The "Reuters" agency reports on this based on the state railway company of Uzbekistan.

According to the company, the train will carry 46 wagons and 91 containers full of copper concentrate from the Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex to Bulgaria. Cargo from Uzbekistan will arrive in Bulgaria through the Middle Corridor via Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, as well as the Caspian and Black Seas.

Brussels considers the Middle Corridor as an alternative route connecting Europe and Asia, by which it is possible to bypass Russia. Last month, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development said it was ready to invest billions of euros in developing freight routes between Europe and Asia bypassing Russia.
