Unemployment Rate Increases in Georgia

In the second quarter of 2020, the unemployment rate in Georgia increased by 0.9 percentage points to 12.3% compared to the same period last year.

According to Geostat, in the second quarter of 2020, the economically active population accounted for 63.7% of the working age population (15 years and older).

The level of activity remained unchanged in both urban and rural settlements compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The employment rate across the country decreased by 0.5 percentage points, in urban-type settlements decreased by 1.3 percentage points, and in rural-type settlements increased by 0.2 percentage points.
