UNDP Launches New Programme of Supporting Climate-Friendly Forests Management in Georgia
According to Beresford, with the funding of the Government of Japan, in cooperation with the UNDP National Forestry Agency, Georgia will implement a new project: "supporting the management of climate-friendly forests in Georgia".
At the meeting, the parties discussed UNDP projects in the field of local agriculture and environment, discussed the reforms implemented in the country in terms of environment, including the Forest Code and the Law on Environmental Responsibility.
Otar Shamugia noted that in order to improve the economic situation of the rural population, cooperation with international partners in order to implement other types of projects for agriculture will be important.
Together with the Government of Georgia, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with the financial support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Government of Switzerland and the Government of Sweden, are implementing a seven-year program in Georgia to reduce the risks of climate-induced disasters.
