Ucha Seturi: 5G Establishment will Lower Internet Tariffs
“Internet tariffs will decline after we introduce the 5G Technology”, Ucha Seturi, director of the Georgian Association of Small and Medium Operators told Business Partner TV Program.
The price of a megabyte with the 4G connection is lower several times, compared to 3G, and this signifies 5G internet connection will cheapen services further, Ucha Seturi assures.
“We compute the internet tariffs in megabytes, to put simply, in volumes. I assure that the unit price will be much lower than today. At the same tine, 5G technology also comprises commercial risks, including the market penetration difficulties. Users will have to pay much more for the 5G internet device, however, it is upon operators to find the way out, including, initially, they can offer devices free of charge to clients”, Ucha Seturi noted.
Companies will have to make essential investments for establishing 5G technologies in the countries. Therefore, the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) should set optimal prices, the Association director noted.
As reported, several days ago the GNCC released a special statement on plans to launch preparations for introduction of 5G technologies in the country. The GNCC will hold an auction to sell the required frequency spectrum.
