Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, met with berry farmers in Kutaisi to discuss the sector’s challenges and emphasize the importance of laboratory diagnostics in enhancing the quality and competitiveness of agricultural products.
“Our goal is to ensure that farmers have access to timely and reliable laboratory services. It is crucial to begin producing high-quality products from the seedling stage—products that are in demand both locally and internationally. Laboratory diagnostics play a vital role in this process,” said Pavliashvili.
He noted that the State Laboratory of Agriculture is fully prepared to provide timely diagnostic services and support farmers in producing market-ready, competitive goods.
During the working meeting, specialists from the State Laboratory of Agriculture presented the laboratory’s capabilities in diagnosing berry crop diseases, including for blueberries, and provided detailed information on soil and water testing services.
Farmers from across the Imereti region attended the session, where they were able to ask questions, share practical experiences, and gain in-depth insight into laboratory-based solutions for improving crop health and productivity.
The event was also attended by Irakli Guledani, Director of the State Laboratory of Agriculture; Mamuka Khimshiashvili, Deputy State Governor of Imereti; and representatives of the National Food Agency and Rural Development Agency of the region.
