“The Ministry Actively Contributes to Environmental Protection, Agricultural Development, and the Strengthening of Georgia’s Independence” – Davit Songulashvili
Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili, attended the official Independence Day celebrations held at Freedom Square in Tbilisi.
Songulashvili congratulated the citizens of Georgia on Independence Day and wished the country unity, peace, and continued development.
“I would like to congratulate our country on Independence Day and wish every citizen the freedom and opportunity to live in a sovereign state. Freedom means having the ability to determine the future of your country and to live according to the values that have brought Georgia to where it is today. I wish our people to remain united through love and strengthened through faith. The celebration of the 1,700th anniversary of Christianity in Georgia is particularly significant and marks a truly special occasion for our nation,” Davit Songulashvili stated.
According to the Minister, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is one of the country’s largest public institutions, encompassing a wide range of responsibilities. He emphasized that the Ministry is actively working to advance both environmental protection and agricultural development, thereby contributing to the strengthening of Georgia and the consolidation of its independence.
Independence Day celebrations, organized by the Government Administration, are taking place throughout the country. As part of the nationwide program, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is hosting visitors at three locations: Poti, Ambrolauri, and Rustavi.
In Poti, the Agency of Protected Areas offers educational and recreational activities, including information spaces dedicated to Georgia’s protected areas and the ecosystems of Kolkheti, alongside children’s and cultural programs.
In Ambrolauri, the National Wine Agency is presenting the concept “Georgia – The Homeland of Wine,” where visitors have the opportunity to taste unique wines from the Racha region and learn about Georgia’s centuries-old winemaking traditions.
In Rustavi, the Rural Development Agency is organizing an agri-food exhibition and sales fair, featuring local products, wine tastings, culinary masterclasses, and an information space dedicated to the Rustavi Floodplain Forest.
This year’s Independence Day celebrations are held under the central message: “For 1,700 Years, Faith Has Strengthened Us – Love Unites Us,” marking the 1,700th anniversary of Christianity being declared Georgia’s state religion.
In connection with this milestone, this year’s military oath-taking ceremony is being held on an unprecedented scale, with recruits taking their oath not only in Tbilisi but also in 12 regions across Georgia, at historic Christian churches and monasteries.
