Targeted Spraying Against Asian Pheasant Underway in Western Georgia
Based on pest monitoring results, targeted "attract and destroy" stations are being installed in municipalities across Western Georgia, and spot spraying is being carried out using the cold spray method, according to the National Food Agency.
To protect pollinators, particularly bees, the teams from the Asian Pheasant Control Center of the National Food Agency are placing these stations exclusively on non-flowering (non-visiting) plants. Prior to the start of spraying, residents are notified in advance through a messaging system.
It is also noted that, considering rising temperatures and the increased spread of the pest, comprehensive measures are being planned. These include spraying operations in forested areas and clearings, with rural zones to be treated using thermal fogging technology.
