"As a responsible Corporate, AGL supports initiatives that are aligned with its business philosophies and values which include caring for the environment and support programs which have a sustained positive impact on the lives of the socially vulnerable communities in the vicinity of its operational installations. In 2016, AGL signed an agreement with the Batumi Botanic Garden about financing the development of Goderdzi Alpine Botanic Garden and contributed USD 100,000. This is a significant investment made by us in the tourism field, I believe that this place will become more and more attractive every year for local as well as for international tourists said Prashant Joshi, CEO of AGL.
Construction and development of the Alpine Garden began with the support of Alliances Lesser Caucasus Programme, a program implemented by the Mercy Corps Georgia. The objective of this Goderdzi Alpine Botanical Garden was not only to preserve and protect the floristic diversity of Ajara, rare species, and in general eco-system of Ajara highland, but also to develop a regional center for tourism, education, and research and thereby support the long-term development of Adjara region. The garden will also create an additional market for local products and will act as an incentive for local residents to develop their economic activities.
