Passenger Turnover at Georgian Airports Declined by 11% in August

According to Georgian Airports Association, in August passenger turnover at Georgian airports declined by 11%, instead of expected 14% growth. As a result, all five airports transported 583 104 passengers in August 2019.

As to January to August indicators, Georgia-based airport served 3 640 823 passengers, up 8% compared to the same period of 2018.

“It should be noted that only Kutaisi airport has recorded a growth in passenger turnover in August, because the Russian flight ban made the least impact on Kutaisi International Airport.

It should be stressed that the Government of Georgia has maximally minimized the negative effect of the Russian flight ban.

Details statistics of passenger turnover:

Tbilisi International Airport:

August 2019 - 397 045 passengers (down 14%)

January to August 2019 – 2 651 918 passengers (up 3%)

Batumi International Airport:

August 2019 – 96 474 passengers (down 20%)

January to August 2019 – 538 234 passengers (up 41%)

Mestia and Ambrolauri Airports

January to August 2019 – 6 361 passengers (up 16%).
