The General Director of LLC “Georgian Amelioration” spoke about the company’s activities in 2025, the reforms implemented, and the achievements accomplished.
As Gigla Tamazashvili noted, well-functioning and efficient melioration systems are a fundamental foundation for the development of agriculture.
“The quantity of harvest, its quality indicators, and consequently its price largely depend on properly operating irrigation systems. If we have abundant harvests, we will have lower prices. That is why the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture places special emphasis on the development of this sector. In 2025, a number of reforms were launched and implemented, including the company’s rebranding, structural reorganization, and the establishment of new directions aimed at ensuring the efficient and rapid delivery of high-quality services to farmers.
During the working process, approaches were developed that are important for so-called ‘future-oriented’ melioration. In the context of today’s global challenges, the rational use of water resources has become a pressing issue, even for a country like Georgia, which is rich in water resources.
Our goal is to deliver water to farmers and local communities with minimal losses. In this process, along with the company, donor organizations are actively involved, and with their support several large-scale projects have already been implemented,” stated Gigla Tamazashvili.
