Ongoing Search for 35 Unreachable Individuals in Shovi Disaster Zone

The Minister of Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, announced that communication with 35 people in the disaster-stricken region of Shovi has yet to be established.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Karseladze reassured the public that rescue efforts remain in full operation.

Karseladze stated, "At this point in time, all individuals who were in direct contact with rescue and police teams have been evacuated. Our full-scale rescue mission continues unabated, with helicopter aid and our dedicated team of rescue workers on the ground. Unfortunately, 35 people remain uncontacted. We are relentlessly pursuing our rescue efforts."

Shovi saw a renewed flurry of activity as rescue helicopters resumed operations in the early hours of this morning. The resort town of Shovi, including the Sunset Shovi hotel, was heavily affected by a landslide on August 3. The incident led to the collapse of a vehicular bridge, washed away by the swollen river.

Two border police helicopters were immediately dispatched to provide assistance to the affected population. The cleanup and reconstruction of roads, which started overnight, continued into the morning.

The search for individuals still missing within the disaster zone is ongoing. Official reports indicate that the landslide has already claimed two lives.
