Number of International Visits in April-June Rose by 13.4%
According to Geostat, the national statistics service of Georgia, the second quarter of 2019 recorded 13.4% upturn in international visits of nonresident travelers (2.2 million) as compared to the same period of 2018. The ratio of 31-50 age category made up 45%, including 1.9 million international visits, up 13% year on year.
In the second quarter of 2019 the number of international visitors made up 1.5 million persons, up 13% year on year. International visitors carried out 1.2 million tourism visits, up 13.8% year on year.
The ratio of trippers made up 27.9%, the visitors – 5.9%.
The major inflow of visitors in the second quarter of 2019 was registered from Russian Federation (378.2 thousand persons), which is 24.9% in total number of visitors and represents 36.8% upturn as compared to the same period of 2018.
The majority of visits in the reporting period was made for recreation, entertainment and holidaymaking (46.6%) in Tbilisi and Adjara with 1 069.3 thousand and 516.7 thousand visits respectively.
The ratio of repeated visits made up 70%. Expenses in the second quarter of 2019 made up 2.4 billion GEL, up 24.6% year on year. The average spending on one visit rose by 10.3% year on year and equaled to 1 261.6 GEL
