For the project implementation, farmer Zurab Merebashvili has invested GEL 380,000, of which GEL 300,000 was attracted as a preferential agro loan. With the support oF USAID’s Agriculture Program, the farmer arranged a cold-store complex in 480 square-meter space.
The complex is capable to store 300 tons of products. The enterprise employs 5 persons on a permanent basis and 20 parsons on the season. Around 80 small farmers will enjoy the complex services. Zurab Merebashvili is a beneficiary of the Plant the Future state program. The farmer attracted state grants of GEL 51,000 for arranging apple, cherry, and pear plantations on 5 hectares and an irrigation system. The company stores crops from the mentioned plantations in the new cold-store complex.
“The new cost-store complex in the village of Tortiza was built with the support of USAID, the Government of Georgia, and the private sector. We continue supporting similar projects”, USAID Georgia Mission director Peter Weibler noted.
