Natia Turnava Introduced Attractive Sectors for Business Development at Tbilisi Silk Road Forum

“Georgia’s economy is a rapidly growing economy in the region, which provides many businesses opportunities for further growth. Our advantageous geopolitical location creates many opportunities to develop transport and logistics services.

Here I would like to emphasize the synergy that exists between the public and the private investments, the huge public investments allocated to improve transport infrastructure in order to create a wide variety of infrastructure projects, at a time when the private sector has also contributed to the development of the value chain, supply chain development, etc. The construction industry and the production of building materials that are closely linked to infrastructure projects and supply are one of the most attractive sectors as well. The construction industry is blooming in Georgia in terms of the realization of large infrastructure projects.

Another important area that investors are still interested in is energy. Georgia is a water-rich country, and we can say that 80% of our electricity generation falls on green power plants. However, the rapidly growing economy requires more and more electricity, which is a challenge. In view of this, we are pleased to see a growing trend of investments in small and medium-sized renewable energy power plants. In addition to hydroelectric power stations, we also support the diversification of the sector. Businesses are encouraged to invest in other renewable energies such as wind and solar power.

I would also like to point out such sectors as tourism, the hospitality sector and our biggest advantage is wine history. Number of visitors to Georgia already exceed the Georgian population three time, which creates new business opportunities. All well-known hotel brands are represented, but there is still room for investment in three-star, four-star hotel infrastructure, especially in rural areas, to develop ecotourism and agro-tourism, where the Georgian Government also provides marketing and financial support.

Finally yet importantly, I would like to emphasize the importance of the production, given that Georgia itself is a small market, but has the prospect of becoming an investment hub. The country has signed Free Trade Agreements with various countries so that we can meet the needs of a large number of customers. We have to support the development of the production chain with the equipment and in any other direction,” – Natia Turnava said.
