Minister Davit Songulashvili Hosts Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at Georgia’s Pavilion During CASPIAN AGRO 2026 in Baku

Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili, is on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan. As part of the visit, the Minister attended the opening ceremony of the international agricultural exhibition CASPIAN AGRO 2026 and the 31st Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition in Baku.

The event was officially opened by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Majnun Mammadov.

Following the opening ceremony, Davit Songulashvili hosted the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, at the Georgian pavilion presented at CASPIAN AGRO 2026 with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and organized by the Rural Development Agency.

“Caspian Agro is one of the largest agri-food exhibitions in the region, and Georgia’s participation is particularly important as it strengthens the country’s regional positioning and further deepens bilateral relations. At the same time, it showcases Georgia as a producer of high-quality agri-food products. It is especially significant that the President of Azerbaijan visited the Georgian stand today, which once again highlights the importance of Georgia’s participation in the exhibition.

The exhibition has proven highly effective in previous years, with participating Georgian companies successfully securing commercial contracts. This creates new opportunities for businesses to expand exports, increase their visibility in regional markets, and ultimately contribute to strengthening the country’s economy,” Davit Songulashvili stated.

International agricultural exhibitions such as CASPIAN AGRO provide an important platform for promoting Georgian products, strengthening trade partnerships, and increasing agricultural and food product exports and imports between countries. Such cooperation supports both business development and broader regional economic growth.

The Georgian pavilion at CASPIAN AGRO 2026 features products from Georgian companies including BioPlant, Hobby, Vasadze Bread, Farconi, GeoNaturals, Achinebuli, Chelti, and Winery Vinitori Mukuzani. The companies are showcasing a range of products including wine, natural juices, confectionery and preserved foods, honey, spices, and organic fertilizers.

CASPIAN AGRO 2026 opened on May 5 and will run until May 7. More than 20 countries from around the world are participating in this year’s exhibition.

Accompanying Minister Davit Songulashvili at the event were Maia Tabagari, Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia in Azerbaijan; Deputy Minister Lasha Dolidze; Director of the Rural Development Agency Zurab Gozalishvili; and Head of the National Food Agency Giorgi Iakobashvili.
