Medicines in Georgia Risen in Price by 57-110% in Five Years

During the last five years, the price of medicines in Georgia has increased by 57-110%.

The dynamics of price increase was requested by the Business Partner from the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

According to Geostat, in the range of 2015-2020, painkillers became more expensive by 110.9%, antibiotics by 79.5%, vitamins by 67.6%, digestive drugs by 57.5%, anti-inflammatory drugs by 60.7%.

Prices for medicines have also risen in the last year. Medications have risen in price by 4-23% from December 2019 to September 2020.

The cost of painkillers has risen the most this year as well. Drugs in this subgroup are 23.5% more expensive, vitamins are 10.2%, antibiotics are 5.3%, digestive drugs are 4.5%, anti-inflammatory drugs are 3.7%.
