May Records 3.5% upturn in Exports, 7.3% Downturn in Imports

On June 13 Geostat, the national statistics service of Georgia, published the May 2019 statistics. In the reporting month Georgia’s exports constituted 334 million USD, up 3.5% year on year (+11.4 million USD).

Imports declined by 59 million USD to 751 million USD, down 7.3% year on year.

In whole, Georgia’s foreign trade turnover made up 1.085 billion USD, down 4.2% year on year, as a result of contraction in imports.

January-May report

In January-May 2019 Georgia’s external foreign trade turnover made up 4.95 billion USD, up 0.1% year on year.

Including, exports constituted 1.46 billion USD, up 14.2% year on year and imports made up 3.49 billion USD, down 3.6% year on year. Negative trade balance constituted 2.02 billion USD, which is 40.8% in external trade turnover.
