Japan Allocates $2.8 million to Georgia for Buying Medical Equipment

As part of the non-project grant, on July 22 the Government of Georgia and Japan signed an agreement, under which Japan will allocate about $2.8 million non-project grant component to Georgia.

According to the press office of the Finance Ministry, corresponding notes and attached documents were signed by Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani and Japanese Ambassador Tadharu Uehara.

This grant will be employed for the needs of the Ministry of Labor, Health, and Social Protection, namely, for purchasing various medical equipment.

This is the 8th assistance component as part of Japan’s non-project grant program, under which, the Japanese Government has allocated more than 3.8 billion Yen for promoting Georgia’s agriculture, healthcare, transport sectors in various municipalities.

The parties stressed the contribution that JICA has played for funding East-West Highway Infrastructure projects; as well as the grant assistance of 4.2 million USD for purchasing 96 electric and hybrid cars for Georgian Interior Ministry; Clean Energy by SOLAR Electricity Generation, under which solar panels were transmitted to Tbilisi International Airport and Ilia State University.
