Hungary Embraces the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project for Green Energy Development

Hungarian Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs Peter Szijártó expressed his excitement for the Black Sea submarine cable project and the opportunity to collaborate with Georgian, Azerbaijani, and Romanian partners during a high-level meeting held in Tbilisi.

The project aims to ensure the security of electricity supply to Hungary while prioritizing environmentally friendly solutions.

The event, attended by representatives from Georgia, Romania, Azerbaijan, and international organizations, was opened by the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili. Alongside Minister Szijártó, the director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency, Javid Abdulaev, and the State Secretary of the Romanian Energy Ministry, George Niculescu, participated in the meeting.

Minister Szijártó emphasized the importance of the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project for Hungary's long-term energy security and commitment to green energy solutions. He applauded Georgia's ambitious approach to the project and pledged Hungary's participation in the technical-economic study and implementation.

Hungary's interest in diversification and green energy solutions aligns with the strategic cooperation agreement signed on December 17, 2022, by the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary for the development and transmission of green energy. The Black Sea submarine cable project is a crucial element of the agreement, which will contribute to the renewable energy sector's growth and increase bilateral trade potential between the EU and the South Caucasus region. The project will also ensure a stable and reliable energy future for the regions.

In summary, the Black Sea submarine cable project is a significant step towards a sustainable energy future, and Hungary's commitment to the project highlights the importance of international collaboration and commitment to green energy solutions.
