How to Hasten Economic Growth in Georgia – Recipe by IMF President

President of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has answered questions about Georgia’s economic growth. Reporter of BM.Ge, attending the economic forum in Kazakhstan, asked the respondent about the steps that Georgia should take to boost economic growth.

Christine Lagarde noted that proper investments are required for boosting economic growth, including in the education sector.

“Georgia establishes very good standards in many directions, including anti-corruption, good governance and tax administration principles. We see progress over the past years and we hope this progress will be continued because Georgia should continue this good practice.

Georgia recorded quite strong economic growth – 4.7% in 2018. The 2019 forecast is 4.6% and the figure will rise by 2020.

We believe that proper investments will boost economic growth, for example, investments in the education sector”, Christine Lagarde noted.
