Highest Unemployment Rate in Georgia is among Young People Aged 15 to 24

Geostat today released the official employment and unemployment statistics for 2021. According to the document, last year, due to the pandemic crisis, unemployment rose from 18.5% to 20.6%.

According to Geostat, in 2021 the unemployment rate in cities will increase from 20.3% to 22.2%, while the unemployment rate in rural areas will increase from 15.8% to 18.2%.

According to official statistics, the highest unemployment rate in Georgia is among young people, where it reaches 41% in the 20-24 age group. The unemployment rate in the 25-29 age group is 27.8%. For comparison, the unemployment rate in the 40-44 age group is 17%.
