Heavy Snowfall Leaves Thousands in Western Georgia Without Stable Electricity Supply
Severe winter weather continues to disrupt electricity supply in Western Georgia, affecting approximately 8% of subscribers, with Guria experiencing the worst outages, reports electricity distribution company Energo Pro Georgia.
According to the latest updates, Guria remains the hardest-hit region, where around 28% of subscribers—totaling approximately 16,000 households—face restricted access to electricity due to heavy snowfall and damaged infrastructure.
Energo Pro Georgia swiftly mobilized additional technical teams from across the country to tackle the emergency, particularly in Guria and Adjara. However, ongoing weather challenges have complicated restoration efforts. Technicians often have no choice but to travel on foot to remote areas, navigating through deep snow and hazardous conditions to repair damaged power lines.
“The heavy snowfall has made it nearly impossible to move equipment, forcing our teams to approach affected infrastructure on foot. In some cases, even reaching damaged locations has become extremely challenging,” the company stated.
The disruptions have also impacted other areas in Western Georgia, notably Imereti and the municipality of Vani, where technical crews are actively working in an intensified mode to restore full service.
Energo Pro Georgia continues working around the clock, prioritizing urgent repairs to restore reliable electricity access as quickly as possible. The company advises residents in affected regions to remain patient and cautious, as restoration activities continue under exceptionally difficult conditions.
