Government Announces ₾21 Million Tender for Rehabilitation of Former Parliament Building in Kutaisi
The Government of Georgia has launched a tender worth 21 million GEL for the rehabilitation of the former parliament building in Kutaisi. The plan is to transform the site into a technological hub, which will require extensive technical maintenance of the building.
According to the State Procurement Agency, the project will involve updating the electrical wiring, heating, cooling, air conditioning, and internal communication systems, including internet infrastructure. The total cost is estimated at 20,980,777 GEL.
The tender, announced by the state-owned "Asset Management and Development Company" LLC, will accept proposals from interested companies between October 12-17.
The former parliament building, which hosted sessions from 2012 to 2016, has been unused since the 2016 parliamentary elections. In June 2023, then-Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili introduced plans to create a technological hub in the building. The project was reiterated by the government of Irakli Kobakhidze in August 2024. A formal presentation on the project is scheduled for October 11, 2024.
