GNERC hosts Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia

On June 26–27, the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) hosts the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia (PSRC).

The event, held within the framework of the existing memorandum of cooperation between the two regulatory authorities, was opened by GNERC Chairman Davit Narmania and the Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia, Mesrop Mesropyan.

In their welcoming remarks, the parties highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the regulators for effective exchange of information and experience.

According to Davit Narmania, cooperation with peer authorities is important both for strengthening Regulatory Commissions and for ensuring the effective regulation of the sectors.

"GNERC actively cooperates with peer Regulatory Commissions. I believe it is essential, for effective sector regulation, to periodically examine the experiences of our peer authorities. At the same time, we should share with our international colleagues information about GNERC’s experience and the various projects exclusively developed and implemented by the Commission" noted Davit Narmania.

As Mesrop Mesropyan, Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia, noted, the ongoing cooperation between regulators fosters the strengthening and continuous development of their institutions.

The meeting is attended by GNERC and PSRC commissioners and department heads. During the meeting, the parties will discuss topics including electricity market liberalization, support mechanisms for microgeneration power plants, renewable energy, tariff policy, service quality control, and public relations.
