Geostat: Unemployment Rate Declined by 0.9% in First Quarter
Unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2020 shrank by 0.9% to 11.9%, as compared to the same period of 2019.
According to Geostat, the National Statistics Service of Georgia, the ratio of economically active population in total number of able-bodied citizens (over 15 years old) made up 62.6%. The economic activity level and the employment level have shrunk by 1.2% and 0.5% respectively, year on year.
In urban zones the employment rate has declined by 0.1%, while in rural zones the employment shrank by 0.9%. As for economic activities, the year on year contraction in urban zones made up 1.4% and in rural zones – 0.9%.
