Geostat: Unemployment Declined to 12.8%

Unemployment rate in 1Q19 declined by 1.2% to 12.8%. 

According to Geostat, the national statistics service of Georgia, the ratio of economically active population (15 years old and over) made up 63.8%.
Moreover, employment rate in urban zones rose by 2.0% year on year, while 1.1% growth was recorded in rural zones.

Raito of the hired in total number of employees made up 50.3%, up 0.9% year on year.

Unemployment rate is lower in rural zones. Namely, in the reporting period unemployment rate declined by 2.6% in cities year on year, while the rate increased by 0.2% in villages.

Unemployment rate is 3.9% higher among men. The rate has declined by 1.6% among women.

Employment rate has increased by 1.4% among women year on year and by 0.2% among men.
