Geostat: FDI Inflows Shrank by 35% in 2018
According to preliminary information, the inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) in 2018 made up 1 232.4 million USD, down 34.9% year on year.
FDI inflows declined after completion of main gas pipeline construction works, after several companies moved to ownership of Georgian residents and liabilities to nonresidents direct investors decreased (payment of loans).
Total FDI inflows constituted 1232.4 million USD, including 277.9 million USD was invested in the finance sector, 209.9 million USD – transport service, 157.2 million USD – power sector, 142.3 million USD – processing industry and 103.6 million USD – development sector.
