Geostat: 70% of Enterprises in Georgia Do Not Use Social Media
The National Statistics Service has released the main findings of a study on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in enterprises. As of January 1, 2024, 94.4% of enterprises had access to the Internet.
Additionally, 72.6% of enterprises used fixed connection methods such as optical fiber (FTTH), cable technologies, and DSL connections (ADSL, SDSL, VDSL) for Internet connectivity.
The study revealed that only 29.6% of enterprises utilized social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn, while a staggering 70% did not use social media tools at all.
As of January 1, 2024, 21.4% of employees in enterprises used company-owned laptops or smartphones with Internet connectivity for business purposes. Furthermore, only 13.2% of enterprises had a website.
Average internet connection speeds in enterprises for 2023 were as follows:
- 35.8% - 10-30 MBIT/S
- 26.2% - 30-100 MBIT/S
- 14.7% - 2-10 MBIT/S
- 11% - 100-500 MBIT/S
- 5.5% - 500-1 GBIT/S
- 4.6% - not less than 1 GBIT/S
- 2.2% - less than 2 MBIT/S
These findings highlight the current state of ICT usage among enterprises in Georgia, emphasizing the significant gap in social media utilization and the varying levels of internet connectivity across businesses.
