Georgia's foreign debt decreased by $ 433.5 million in three months
Georgia's total foreign debt as of September 30, 2019 totaled $ 17,797 billion, which is $ 433,567 million lower than in the previous quarter, though up by $ 491 318 million over the same period last year.
Specifically, in the second quarter of 2019, the country's total external debt amounted to $ 18,321 billion, as of September 30, 2018, to $ 17,306 billion.
As of September 30, 2019, the government sector debt is $ 5,323 billion and the National Bank's debt is $ 404.6 million.
At the same time, as of September 30, the external debt of commercial banks is $ 4,249 billion, while other sectors' are $ 4,546 billion. It should be noted that banks' liabilities decreased by almost $ 152 million in the first quarter, compared to -209 million in other sectors. External liabilities of non-bank financial corporations decreased from $ 125.4 million to $ 114.6 million. It is noteworthy that foreign debt denominated in foreign currency amounts to $ 16,059 billion, of which short-term is $ 3,096 billion and long-term is $ 12,962 billion. The amount of debt denominated in national currency is $ 680.5 million.
