Georgia’s exports to the EU countries amounted to $ 360.9 million in January-May 2019 which is 22.1 percent more than in the previous year and makes 24.6 percent of the country's total exports, the National Statistical Office reports.
According to Sakstat, imports from EU countries amounted to $ 885.8 mln (11.5 percent less) and make 25.4 percent of total imports. Trade turnover with the EU countries made $ 1 246.7 million which is 3.9 percent less than in the previous year. As for the trade deficit, in January-May 2019 its share in the total negative trade balance was 25.9 percent.
In January-May, 2019, Georgia’s exports to CIS countries totaled $ 748.7 million which is 28.3 percent more than in the previous year and make 51.1 percent of the country's total exports. Imports amounted to $ 951.3 million (13.2 percent less), which is 27.2 percent of total imports. Trade turnover with CIS countries reached $ 1 700.0 mln that is 1.3 percent more than last year. As for the trade deficit, in January-May 2019 its share in total negative trade balance made 10.0 percent.
