Georgia’s Export Rises by 12.4% to 3.77 billion USD
On January 20, Geostat, the national statistics Service of Georgia, published the 2019 final report, under which the country exported 3.77 billion USD products to foreign markets, up 12.4% year on year.
Total foreign turnover made up12.83 billion USD (excluding undeclared trade), up 2.7% compared to the same period of 2018, including the exports marked 3.77 billion USD, up 12.4% and the imports constituted 9.06 billion USD, down 0.8%.
The negative trade balance amounted to 5.29 billion USD, which is a 41.2% ratio in foreign trade turnover. Exports without re-exports rose by annual 5.7% to 2.35 billion USD.
“In 2019 Georgia exported 825.7 million USD products to EU, up 13% compared to 2018. The exports to EU made up 21.9% ratio in total exports.
Imports from EU constituted 2.32 billion USD (down 7.4%), which is a 25.6% ratio in total imports
Trade turnover with EU countries made up 3.14 billion USD, down 2.8% year on year. As for trade deficit, its ratio in the 2019 negative trade balance made up 28.3%.
In 2019, Georgia’s exports to the CIS made up 2 billion USD, up 20% year on year, which is a 53.1 ratio in total exports. Imports to the CIS amounted to 2.43 billion USD, down 9.5% year on year, which is a 26.9% ratio in total imports.
Trade turnover with the CIS countries totaled 4.44 billion USD, up 1.8% year on year. As to trade deficit, its ratio in the 2019 negative trade balance made up 8.2%.
