Georgian Song Competition-Festival "Where is the Other Georgia" Successfully Completed
The final gala concert of the Georgian song contest-festival "Where is the Other Georgia" was held in Marneuli, with RMG as the official sponsor. The contest-festival aims to popularize traditional singing among Georgians and teenagers representing ethnic minorities living in Georgia.
"Where is the Other Georgia" is now in its 8th year. This year's qualifying stages took place in various regions of Georgia over several months, featuring performances from teams and solo artists across different genres. The performers were evaluated by a jury composed of renowned Georgian musicians.
"The festival has been held in Marneuli since 2016. Initially, only the Kvemo Kartli region participated, but over time we expanded. This year, 17 municipalities participated in the festival. The idea came from a desire to promote Georgian song, especially among ethnic minorities. We started in Kvemo Kartli, where the majority of ethnic minorities reside," said Maya Jamalashvili, founder and organizer of the festival and a teacher at the Theater University.
In the individual category, participants performed Georgian pop songs, while the ensemble category featured folklore and Georgian choral works. The folk ensemble "Yalno" from the village of Akhalsofli in the Gardabani municipality was chosen by RMG and received a special gift from the company. The jury awarded the Grand Prix to the ensemble "Artist" from Sachkheri.
"We joined the project 'Where is the Other Georgia' this year and are the main sponsors of the festival. It is heartening to see young people and adults passionately singing Georgian repertoire and folk works, developing and renewing them. Promoting informal education for young people is important to us, and we faithfully support such initiatives, especially in the Kvemo Kartli region. I thank the authors and organizers of the project and wish them success in their future activities," said Zurab Devdarian, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of RMG.
RMG promotes non-formal education, cultural, and arts-related initiatives, ensuring their alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals through its support of social responsibility projects.
