Georgian and Greek Officials Discuss Green Energy and Economic Cooperation in Athens

Nino Tandilashvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with Haris Theoharis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, during an official visit to Athens.

The meeting focused on key priorities in Georgian–Greek economic cooperation, with particular emphasis on increasing bilateral trade and attracting investment in the green energy sector. Tandilashvili highlighted Georgia’s significant renewable energy potential and Greece’s growing interest in the field.

Special attention was given to the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project, a strategic initiative aimed at connecting Georgia’s energy system with the European Union. The officials agreed that the project is a key component in advancing energy security and regional integration.

It was also noted that the next session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Technological Cooperation will be held later this year, where both countries will review and define priority areas for future collaboration.

The meeting took place as part of a broader visit by the Georgian delegation to attend an event marking the 20th anniversary of the European Energy Union.
