Georgian Airways to Join Air Silk Road Development Project
Georgian Airways will engage in implementing Air Silk Road development project. At this stage, we are exploring the project jointly with the Chinese party.
Georgian Airways director general Roman Bokeria told Avianews.ge that by the initiative of Partnership Fund of Georgia, Chinese businessmen have visited the company for developing cargo shipping.
‘Special fund of the Chinese Government with focus on land, road, sea and air shipping has offered to engage in the Air Silk Road project. Geopolitical location is Georgia’s key asset and advantage and we have unique opportunity to become the hub of international shipping and connect Asia and Middle East to Europe so as Georgia become a gate”, Bokeria noted.
Chinese party will convey cargo to Georgia and the Georgian airline will ensure a cargo supply from Georgia. “They are interested in Georgian Airways as a national airline and we are able to transport these consignments to specific destinations. We plan to add China, India and other directions”, he said.
