Georgia to Initiate Tbilisi Urban Railway Project

Supposed cost of the project is over 174 million – 218 million USD, the cost depends on the number of the railway lane.

The Ministry of Finance will start negotiations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank. The Georgian government hopes to be able to attract grants for this project.

"This is urban railway development project of Samgori-Lilo district, there will be about seven stations and most importantly, it is planned to connect Rustavi with the urban-rail link," the finance minister said. To remind, the construction of the railway linking Samgori-Lilo and Rustavi is an initiative of the Tbilisi City Hall.
