Georgia Marks Days of Mourning

Georgia has declared August 7 as a day of mourning, following the Prime Minister's directive, in remembrance of the lives lost due to the tragic natural disaster on August 3, 2023, in the Oni municipality's Shovi resort.

From the start of August 7 until midnight of August 8, state flags will be flown at half-mast across the nation.

Moreover, as a symbol of respect and to honor the memories of those who perished during the large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation, leading to the illicit annexation of Georgia's Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, state flags will continue to be lowered from midnight of August 8 until midnight of August 9.

It's worth noting that a devastating landslide struck Shovsi on August 3, with current official reports confirming 18 casualties.
